I created the entire thing from scratch (built the shape and everything), so I’m kinda proud of it. I have to say, drawing is easier in AutoCAD than in Photoshop. If I ever figure out photo-realistic string/twine, I’ll add it to this.
The paper is actually an old portrait photo card I laid over the cutout and then masked to shape. I burnt the edges and then hit it with a (brown) brush from Bittbox that turned out to have the awesome texture you see over what I thought was just a blank part of the brush (which is urban decay, I *think*). The bottom border is a stamp I made from a vintage children’s book illustration.

My good friend has a birthday this month. She is really into scrapbooking. She usually buys her supplies from AC Moore or Michaels – which probably means that their supplies are not the latest and greatest.
I’d like to get her some scrapbooking supplies that are new.
I do not scrapbook so I don’t even know where to start. I went to scrapbook.com and quite frankly it’s overwhelming. I have no idea where to begin or what’s good or bad or what will be useful. Please be specific as possible. Thanks!

Fiskars is always a good choice. I like the big desk top models.(#95807097) I find it is easier to cut a 12×12 sheet of paper. The scallop blade gives a very nice cut. This desk top model uses a rotary blade. There is a deckle blade too.
For a smaller, more portable one try Provo Craft-It is bright lime green and pink. It holds the paper firmly when cutting and it costs less than most brands.
Getting a rotary blade allows you to change your blade to other styles.
